Left 4 Dead Modded Controllers for Xbox 360 & Sony PS3
Left 4 Dead is a cooperative first-person shooter video game. It was developed by Turtle Rock Studios, which was purchased by Valve Corporation during development. The game is available for Microsoft Windows, Xbox 360 and Mac OS X. Two versions of the game were released digitally: a downloadable digital version, released on November 17, 2008, and a digital retail disc version, released in North America and Australia on November 18, 2008; and in Europe and Japan on November 21, 2008.
Left 4 Dead is a game that venerates zombie movies throughout the ages, from George A. Romero's Dawn of the Dead to Danny Boyle's 28 Days Later. In the game, a player and up to three other survivors must battle a zombie apocalypse with a simple goal; players aren't trying to eradicate the undead horde, they are just trying to survive. The game is built almost entirely around cooperative multiplayer action. Sure, there is a single-player mode that lets the players play through the game with bots, but that feels like practice. Bots lack the dynamic play, the interaction and the interplay, and the social aspect of co-op play.
The game has 4 scenarios where player must battle his/her way to a series of safe houses that lead to a rescue point. Each scenario is presented like a movie. Player can have up to four players in a game, controlling each of the characters. Game's scenarios are pretty short, but have tons of replay value in them. The option of playing as a zombi is also available in two campaigns, but playing in the Versus mode requires more skills and practice.
Left 4 Dead received mostly positive reviews from critics and universal praise from the public community. The use of lighting and filmic effects; the game's replayability; its faithfulness to the zombie film genre were higlighted as the main distinctive features.
And the limited, repetitious map selection along with the lack of an overall narrative between the campaigns were found disappoiting.
The Xbox 360 version of Left 4 Dead
was the seventh best-selling game of December 2008 in the United States, selling in excess of 629,000 copies. On February 3, Electronic Arts revealed that Left 4 Dead
had sold 1.8 million copies, excluding Steam and worldwide sales figures. On September 24, 2009, Valve announced that almost 3 million copies of the game had been sold in US.
There's absolutely no doubt that Left 4 Dead is one of the most social and exciting multiplayer games ever created. It's almost pitch perfect in how it captures the tension and the action of a Hollywood zombie movie. This is an incredible and highly replayable multiplayer experience that's definitely worth checking out, especially if you're looking to prepare yourself for the inevitable zombie apocalypse.
The game is rated M for Mature: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language.
