Killzone 2 Modded Controllers for Xbox 360 & Sony PS3
Killzone 2 is a first-person shooter for the PlayStation 3, developed by Guerrilla Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment. It is the third installment in the Killzone series that began on the PlayStation 2 with Killzone and continued on the PlayStation Portable with Killzone: Liberation. Killzone 2 was released worldwide late February 2009, and was followed by Killzone 3 in February 2011.
The basic thrust of the story takes place after the events of Liberation, where the ISA has finally gotten tired of being invaded and attacked on its world of Vekta and has decided to take the fight back to Emperor Visari. The ISA launched a "revenge" invasion against the world of Helghan with the goal of capturing Visari and forcing the Helghast to stand down. And the war has begun...
The visual sense of the game is very strong. Particle effects are rather striking, primarily when an RPG shell goes off and kicks dirt and dust into the air, obscuring your vision for a second as the detritus showers to the ground. Items that are set on fire, will burn and turn into ash, with wisps of fabric blowing in the wind. Many of the detailed environments, which range from the corrugated siding walls and balconies of Helghast cities to the stone supports of buildings and service areas, are destructible, allowing you to feel the impact of a firefight. The shattered pillars, splintered boxes and other rubble that can dominate a room is a nice touch to the amount of havoc you and the enemy will wreak.
A solo campaign has a distinct co-op feeling to it, you are almost always partnered with one or more soldiers as you run through the various environments who help you a lot.
The multiplayer mode is an awesome experience to play through. Not only is it incredibly deep, but there's a ton of things for newcomers and experienced veterans. It is broken into two segments: the offline component of multiplayer, which is basically a practice arena and the online component with eight selected maps.
Killzone 2 has been met with critical acclaim. The game was said to have "amazing, fluid graphics and animation" as well as "beautifully constructed levels and intense sweaty-palmed action." Game's graphics technology, intense campaign and multiplayer depth were highly praised as well.
The game has been criticized for the use of "gameplay clichés" and its weak storyline and characters.
The debut sales of Killzone 2 in the United States were 323,000 within 48 hours of launch. On April 16, 2009, Sony announced that sales of Killzone 2 had surpassed one million worldwide.
To conclude, Killzone 2 is an outstanding evolution of the franchise, a bullet and adrenaline-fueled rampage against an implacable enemy and a fantastic shooter.
The game is rated M for Mature: Blood and Gore, Intense Violence, Strong Language.
